CHALLENGE
Portsmouth Naval Base has been an integral part of the city since 1194. It is home to almost two-thirds of the Royal Navy’s surface ships, including the new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, the formidable Type 45 destroyers, Type 23 frigates and mine countermeasures and fishery protection squadrons.
It will also be home to HMS Prince Of Wales, the sister ship of HMS Queen Elizabeth. At 65,000 tonnes they are the biggest ships ever built for the Royal Navy.
The base is a major employer and provides lodging facilities to RN personnel serving at the base and in Portsmouth-based ships.
Quite simply we were asked to design the new lighting for the indoor courts at the Portsmouth Royal Naval base, to improve light levels and glare whilst also incorporating energy savings.
SOLUTION
We opted for our floodlight range for this project, one of our design team took great joy in offering a scheme where significant energy savings were made, as well as saving money each month, and greatly improving the game experience for the tennis players. Our client was very happy with the end result.
